Joan has played weddings and other events in the greater Charlotte area for the past twenty years. She also teaches harp from her home in Tega Cay, SC.
In addition to playing traditional processionals and preludes, Joan plays love songs, Broadway, movie scores, and music from Gershwin to Rihanna for background music for receptions, rehearsal dinners, cocktail hours, and parties. She has also played in several theme weddings in costume with various sizes of harps.
For the wedding, she will arrive one hour ahead to move and tune the harp and be comfortably ready to play prelude music for 30 minutes before the ceremony. Her free CD makes it easy to choose traditional music, and 5 pages of music lists gives plenty of ideas about what else can be played on the harp!
She will help you select music for seating mothers and grandmothers or other honored guests. You will need a processional for the bridal party and different music for the bride's entrance. During the ceremony she can play for a Unity candle or sand ceremony, during communion, accompany a vocalist, or play with a violin or flute, or play a love song. At the end we'll choose a strong recessional for the couple, the bridal party, the family and finally the guests to leave the ceremony area.
The harp sounds wonderful outside (though it cannot be located in direct sun, mist or rain.) or inside. Joan brings a small amplifier which fills most any setting, outdoors or in.
