When I first found out my best friend was having her wedding at the Victorian House in Kaufman, Tx I was excited. The victorian house is beautiful... I had even thought that maybe that would be the place I could get married but I was HIGHLY disappointed in Victorian House after tonight and have completely changed my mind. I was the maid of honor in a wedding tonight and I will never recommend this venue or use this venue myself because of some of the experiences I had. I will list them out in order of them happening... 1. The rehearsal was slightly unorganized, and the wedding planner then was being difficult about letting us in to view the reception hall... 2. I guess I understand her being difficult because she probably knew that when one of their workers was helping the grandmother of the bride set up the beautiful cake she had made the worker stuck her thumb into the cake and then proceeded to try and "pat" the hole down. 3. After the wedding was over and those in attendance were dismissed to go to the reception there was no one to tell them what to do... All of these people were just standing around because they had no idea if they were even allowed to eat the food. 4. The slide show that the bride had prepared for her husband as a surprise was COMPLETELY RUINED! The wedding planner said the slide show had worked earlier but all of a sudden when it came time to work the slide show and finally show the groom the music would not work. So, what did the wedding planner do? She let it keep playing. No music. After she realized there was an issue she went to go find someone to help her and she left the slide show playing.... to keep ruining it I guess... might as well ruin the whole thing right? So I, maid of honor, had to go over and escape out of the video so it would not be completely ruined. After spending about 30 min trying to get the slide show to work I guess they just gave up because no one saw the rest of the slide show... 5. There was a wedding guest sign in book and a sign book that was more like a scrap book. This book was supposed to be the special one for the bride and the groom to keep as a scrap book with some of the guests best memories written down... But, no one wrote in it... There was nothing said about signing the book. It was just set up on a table... Nothing with it... 6. After the wedding was all over the family of the bride was told that the Victorian House staff would load the car with all the wedding gifts… well, I guess if you count saying "Thanks, have a great night," from the doorway helping... I ended up helping the mother and father of the bride load their car.... I think that mostly covers my disappointment… I'm still livid. I believe that the price that they paid for this venue was not equal to the service that they received. As I mentioned earlier, I will never recommend this venue to anyone.... And I will especially never recommend the wedding coordinator that we had to anyone.
