The property features a historic landmark—the beautifully restored Elizabeth Milbank Anderson House, a 1912 brick and timber Craftsman-style residence with an adjacent carriage house. A picturesque arched entryway welcomes guests into the private garden, flanked by the charming home and the gleaming new exhibition galleries.
The garden’s broad, manicured lawn provides a smooth green expanse for weddings, receptions, cocktail parties or corporate events under the sun—or stars. No matter what the weather, you can still safely plan on having your festivities outdoors, since the lawn can be tented. Everywhere you look the scenery is captivating, from Claire Falkenstein’s stunning water sculpture on the adjoining patio to the spectacular views of the beach, the Queen Mary, and Catalina Island. This also happens to be one of the best spots in Long beach to watch the sunset.
The new galleries, situated next to the garden lawn, are where the Museum’s ongoing exhibits and permanent collections are showcased. The structure, designed in the traditional Arts and Crafts style, complements the Museum’s historic architecture. Upon special request, you can have the museum galleries remain open for your guests’ viewing pleasure during your event.
The Museum’s Nussbaum Parlor, located on the ground floor of the Elizabeth Milbank Anderson house, is perfect for an intimate rehearsal dinner or a smaller wedding. The Parlor, occupying what used to be the home’s living and dining rooms, is warm and inviting, with mahogany paneled walls, hardwood floors, multiple fireplaces and bay windows affording views of the fountain and the ocean beyond.
