Alison Lueker founded Sun in my Belly in 1996 and is its Executive Chef and co-mastermind. She began her love affair with fine food while studying art in Turin, Italy. Upon returning to the States, she attended culinary school in Santa Fe and then moved to Atlanta. After her position as the Buckhead Diner's pastry chef, the Horseradish Grill approached Alison to help it open its new restaurant. Soon after, Alison decided to go off on her own to create the kind of food that fulfilled her passion for gorgeous, delectable and uniquely decadent cuisine.
Alison was one of the first chefs in town to champion not only seasonally fresh fare with artistic flair, but also to distinguish it with the intricate, nature-driven themes she weaves into each signature dish. As a testament to her superior craft, she was appointed as the exclusive caterer for the Director of Atlanta's High Museum. The demand for Alison's skills has taken her and the Sun in my Belly crew across the continent -- as well as to Europe -- for weddings, business presentations and special family occasions.
Max LeBlanc partnered with Alison in 1998. They acquired a Kirkwood kitchen and combined forces to take Sun in my Belly to the next level. Max's background in both quantitative business analysis and operations and management helped with the Sun in my Belly expansion. With these skills, Max has created Sun in my Belly's smoothly run catering business and café. Max and Alison also showcase their gourmet fare at the Atlanta Botanical Garden Café.
