The Chalfonte Hotel, Cape May’s enduring Historic Site in the National Historic Landmark City, was built in 1876, by Colonel Henry Sawyer, and since that time she has defied conventional definitions of "hotel." Those visiting for the first time are struck by the simplicity and comfort of the hotel and its amenities! Those already familiar with the Hotel, many of them lifelong guests, arrive with very specific and creative ideas for using special areas of the Hotel for their celebrations.
