As a videographer who has attended many weddings, my advice for a better ceremony would be to make the officiant your top priority.

The Officiant will have a huge influence on the tone of the ceremony. You'll want to make sure that you find someone who is willing to perform the kind of ceremony you are envisioning, or who has a style and belief system similar to your own. You also need to make sure that they are experienced. I know this may sound obvious but I have seen my share of wedding ceremonies where the officiant stumbled a lot or sounded mono toned with no emotion at all.

I suggest interviewing officiants just as you would photographers, videographers and any other wedding vendor. Just because they are in the business doesn't make them all equal.
